i dont think that you can change your AD licence into a UK one, only the other way round, UK to AD etc, the best place to check is the traffic department drivers licensing place up on 4th st but if you were meaning when on holiday etc, ie for hiring purposes, ie hire car you can use your AD licence there. Is that what you were meaning?

If you value a long life...get your licence in the UK rather than here in AD. Once you pass your test (or before) undertake one of the advanced rider training packages available around the country. You will be glad that you did...so will your partner. Speaking from experience here... having trained with local motorcycle police on their public advanced riding programs.

had 2 friends who were planning to do the same in Dubai but never go around to doing it. It is supposed to be quite cheap here.

also had a former housemate who bought a bike and ending up selling it. Was too dangerous to ride in Dubai and he didnt get enough opportunities to ride it outside Dubai.

Don't they have advanced motorcycle courses in the UAE? I'm thinking of getting a bike to ride some weekends when there's no traffic around.

Agree...!

I have been riding for year's and miss it big time but there is no way that I would get on a bike on these roads...

I would doubt that even a confident rider would last the day...

If you really want to ride, buy a KTM and use it in the desert!

I think DIDC’s state-of-the-art training centre at Dubai Investments Park follows the UN/ECE recommended curriculum for driver training and testing, which includes motorcycles. That may include the swerve and break test that will be introduced in the UK.

While I no longer have my Kawasaki 1100 cc bike, which I bombed around France on, I would hate to ride the roads here, especially where there is any remnant sand on the road...just asking to slide and end up on your backside..especially when cornering !

dont think you can rent out bikes?? but there is certainly a cycle track on the corniche which is very nice for talentspotting errr i mean getting some lovely exercise.

Not my cup of tea though as you cant really go full pelt. Will definately be the place that we take our daughter on our mountain bikes when she can fit into the child seat....gotta start them off young!!
so for visitors with kids it is a really nice place to go cycling. as for renting--pass im afraid but i bet someone knows..bzzzzz

Hi,

Tried to get some lessons in the UK. You need to be living there to get your papers processed. That is what I have been told !!

As I live in AL-Ain it get quiet during the evening and the temptation to whirl around Jabal Hafeet road in a bike is overwhelming !!

I just wonder where all these couriers guys and Pizza delivery guys here have been trained (that is if they did!!)

If you manage to find any course please let me know.

Ta
