Hey Larnie
Glad to see you have given up your quest on this thread, what a bunch of ignorant rude people with nothing better to do. I will email you addresses and contact details of two of the nicest, genuine people in Dubai who will be more than happy to answer all your questions and show you round when you get here.
Cant wait to see you myself for a real good laugh with lots of something cool

Re: Living in Dubai
Coffee and friends for 50 plus women (no kids), not that I don't love kids but.... try EW for coffee mornings and think there is one at JBR on Tuesdays
I need a job (Office Management, Property Management, Admin) I am afraid so do a lot of other people but good luck
Where to live? DH is flatting but that won't last long once I am back? JBR? Discovery? What is the true picture of rents? Try Dubizzle then knock 20% off but depends what and where you are looking 2 bed at JBR 125k 1 bed 110, 2 bed Marina 100K, 1 bed 85
Hairdresser? Down to recommendations and trying them
Doctor? Again lots of recommendations on the board and depends where you end up living, I use Dr Nicollas for dentistry at Murjan at JBR and Welcare Ambulatory at Knowledge Village for general practitioners
Gym? Often one in the towers if you have an apartment other than that an overpriced Fitness First 400dhs/month

As a new poster I just have to say that this thread is really scaring me off. What appalling behaviour! I've used many expats forums elsewhere but I've never seen anything like this before.

Re: Living in Dubai
Actually I'm not needing a group hug. I was just looking for information on life in the UAE, being a new resident here. And the posts got rude about the 3rd one in. I can't believe I am bothering to respond.

Re: Living in Dubai
You could always try brunch at the Blue Restaurant, Marina Walk because its very reasonably priced.
