Lemon Trees

Has anyone got a lemon tree planted. If so have you had any fruit. We have had two trees in pots. One was upto 6 feet but no fruit. I have recently planted it in the ground but we seem to have a few problems with it. I don't know if I am over watering or underwatering it but it is very limp.

Hmmmmmm...if the leaves start growing double it won;t bear any fruit. U have to lop off all the suckers (double bits) Had the same prob...
However my mini oranges are starting to ripen,,,, lucky old me....
Lemon trees really only need watering every 3 or 4 days...too much water and they just get tall. The trunk is then too small to feed the branches enough to grow any lemons....hack it down and it'll do fine....

thanx for the advice, when I moved from abu dhabi I cut it down pretty good. I then planted it in the ground it does seem to have taken well but we have never had any lemons, kinda wondering if it is a lemon tree! I habe also heard that it needs to flower before it can grow anything. I do think I have double leaves can't say fo sure as I am away. Should be back by the weekend so will get the shears out.
Also think I have a palm tree growing, not in a very good place inbetween a tree and the lemon tree. So think I will try and move it to a bigger a spot.
Thanx again

Hi TS,
would just like to come back to you on this. I lopped off all the double leaves and they have grown back even more. Upto four leaves on a stem! What sort of size tree would start bearing fruit? I have seen plants for sale on the net in the uk that were 2ft in pots and bearing fruit. I have been able to cut down on the watering since planting it in the ground. Should I keep lopping the double leaves?
Cheers
