Latest Security Update for Riyadh from US & UK
NOt sure if you have all seen this - i got a mail update from the UK FCO and also it has been all over cnn/BBC world news - whats yours views ???
U.S. Embassy Riyadh released the following Emergency Message to U.S. Citizens on September 28, 2011:
U.S. Embassy in Riyadh advises U.S. citizens in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that we have received information that a terrorist group in Saudi Arabia may be planning to abduct Westerners in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh reminds all U.S. citizens to exercise prudence and enhanced security awareness at all times.
Regardless of where you are, it is always advisable to keep your security and situational awareness levels high.
Please follow these good personal security practices:
Do not be time and place predictable. Vary your routes and times to and from work. Do not frequent the same shops with regularity;
Know where you are going and have a plan of what to do in the event you encounter demonstrations or violence;
Identify safe areas (for example police stations, hospitals, Saudi Government buildings) in your area and how to get to them quickly;
Avoid crowds or large gatherings when traveling in public;
Tell co-workers or neighbors where you’re going and when you intend to return;
Minimize your profile while in public.

Quoting the UK FCO website (http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travel-and-...a/saudi-arabia)
"This advice has been reviewed and reissued with an amendment to the Travel Summary and the Safety and Security - Terrorism section (US Government warning 28 September). The overall level of the advice has not changed; there are no travel restrictions in place in this travel advice for Saudi Arabia."

Thats makes at least 2 of us. I still havent had any official word at all.
So if we had 6 Men walking around shopping, of various natioanlities, and none of whom are from good ole USA, and one of them get Kidnapped or some thing.
Do's ole Terry the Terriost know who is from good ole USA or not.
Infomation should be shared and passed on,
We know the members of the embassies, all meet up at other embassy social funtions and have a right old chat.
I know because when i was in Riyadh at embassy social evenings you could hear them chatting away, after a glass of falling down water or three.
Now hows that for Com Sec. !!
It has been said before i wonder what the embassy are here for, since the passports are now done in GERMANY of all places.
If it wasnt for good ole British Waste a Space and the Military side of things here, !!! But thats another story with the main Military chap being sent home PDQ.
