Default Kuwait versus Doha

Hello folks I have been working in Doha for many years and now there is a potential for a good job in Kuwait. Nothing solid yet but an interview is coming soon. I have done my homework and searched this forum to see most people complain about Kuwait. Could anyone enlighten me on why Kuwait is bad and how much salary increase should I get to move to Kuwait? The main reason why I am considering movement is that things start getting harder in Qatar with lots of cuts in budget and larger uncertainty in the way. Also the position in Kuwait might be more stable and more rewarding. I like to hear from those who lived in both countries the pro and contra thanks

all the GCC is in the shit.

Kuwait isn't so bad. I like the place.

Kuwait also has a lot less debt and unbuilt infrastructure commitments and will be better placed to withstand low oil than Qatar.

What's about living standards and people there, compared to Qataris?

I prefer Kuwaitis. I've not lived there so hard for me to comment on it.

There's a pizza express in the airport- makes it a developed country in my opinion.

Saudi's are ignorant , Qatari's are arrogant , Kuwaiti's are both . Kuwait City is another in a long line of Middle East drab and boring cities.

I have lived in UAE, Qatar and Kuwait. I thought Kuwait was OK really apart from treacherous driving not helped by all the ring roads which are race tracks and lethal after dusk - it is far worse that Qatar and UAE. The other thing you need to bear in mind is that it is dry. Shopping was good - seem to remember that accommodation costs were a bit less too and we saved a fair bit of money as our social life was limited. The Corniche Club is good and worth joining if you decide to take a job there. Would I volunteer to transfer back there from UAE - probably not, but I did prefer it to Doha!

Kuwait is as dry as Manchester in October. It's just not legal...Having lived in Doha and Kuwait, on the whole I prefered Kuwait.

Lived in Q8 for a short stint before I move to the UAE 10yrs ago. If I'm honest I didn't mind it. Some of the opinions posted above are valid but these issues didn't really bother me.

Social life takes some time to develop.
It is dry but every body brews their own and black market stuff is available.
Its easy to get out for a weekend now and then.

Kawait is likely less rich then Qatar but I guess not so different Qatar is richer though and more high class. Kawait is not far off its close I guess. Culture is same. Money I would guess is less but you said job may pay more then I say go for it why not? Why don't you go for a visit to have a look at how things are- watch some youtube videos they bring world to your finger tips with a video.
