Job Offer
Morning all
I know this question has probably been asked a million times, but as I am in a different field to most of the salary questions on here, I would appreciate some guidance.
I have been offered a job as Sales Manager for a British manufacturing company with a sales and distribution office in Dubai. I would manage a sales team of 4 people.
I am due to fly out to Dubai to discuss package and would be grateful for any pointers.....We are a family of 3 (Wife and 18 month old boy).
How much is the minimum I should be looking at?
Thanks in advance

How long is a piece of string? You may be competing with Lebanese, Filipinos and Indians on less than Dhs10,000 per month. For a sales position here, don't they require any Arabic or at least the ability to learn?

How does the benefits package break down?
I.e. is it an all-in-one lump sum or is it salary + accommodation + schooling?

Re: Job Offer
My wife would not be working, so all expenses would have to come from this.
we would be looking at a villa and not apartment.

Re: Job Offer
You will need at least Dhs15,000 per month for a basic 3-bed villa. The problem may be having to pay 12 months in advance unless you can find a tenant-friendly landlord. With a car but without schooling, an overall package of Dhs40-50,000 might be do-able, but nothing less.

Re: Job Offer
Rent per month AED10-15k depending on area (and maybe payable upfront in advance.
Family of three food, phone and utility bills etc per month: AED 4k++ Double for eating out a lot.
Car: even a reasonably hire car will be AED1500 to 2500 per month. You may want something more sturdy with a baby in the back, and perhaps one for your wife too.
Savings: Up to you but if you're not able to save at least AED5000 a month you have to ask what you're doing here. Ideally you should be saving at least what you would be paying in tax on your current wage in the UK.
There will be other expenses too - lots of stealth taxes and charges like ID cards, visas for family, attesting paperwork, road toll (salik) etc. Add a few thousand dirhams PM for that too.
So it's doable on AED30ish but you should be aiming for AED40 if you want to save well and enjoy life here.

Consider school costs, well daycare etc, as it won't be long before the baby will be heading to one...no idea what the preschools are like for cost mind, but don't imagine them to be cheap, even if only for a couple days a week.
