Default Internet in Dubai

A second thread from me for the day, apologies but questions come thick and fast!

My earlier thread mentioned relocating, however I will be out there for the last week in November and first week in December. While out there I will be working and have been given a laptop....does anyone know about buying an Etisalat wireless card, or just accessing it from hotels?!

You may not need an Etisalat wireless card.

If you're in a hotel room, there's a good chance you'll just plug in using an Ethernet cable and your net access will be charged directly to your room account.

If you're at a wifi hotspot, all you usually have to do is switch on your wifi and fire up your web browser; if it's a paid-access hotspot, you'll enter your payment details onto the first page you come to and away you go.

If you do need an Etisalat internet card, the only place I know for certain that sells them (other than Etisalat shops) is the American Hospital. Yes, I'm sure you can get them in plenty of other places, but the one time I was looking for one (before I got one from the AH), everywhere we went just looked at us blankly or tried to sell us a Wasel recharge

The better hotels have free wireless access... The Fairmont I know for sure has free open access wireless, as does the Emirates Palace in Abu D...

Which I think I do...at least I have a confirmation number to get them on the first day from the ground. I think I got them through the website. Is it fully booked then?

It's great but there is a system here on The Bored whereby anyone attending the Sevens has to buy a ticket for The Dean as well.

The others will confirm that this is true.

If you haven't got a ticket yet, send me a Private Message with your mobile number.......... it's sold out, you see, but such trivial obstacles are all in a day's Dean-work.......

Get them THE DAY BEFORE if you can - the 'collect your tickets at the gate' system was a nightmare last year..................

Thanks Dean, but I have a confirmation through Time Out with tickets for both days. It sounds like you don't need any of our help in procuring a ticket!
