Re: I'm moving to Dubai
The best advice I got from this site was: Do the Maths! Life is expensive here and can't be a nightmare with the wrong package and/or attitude. Otherwise, it is a great place to spend a few years.

The lifestyle is very different here to London- pace of life is slower, sunny climate, low crime rates, friendly people (when you can find them) which is more of a reason to come here than the finance. Not quite so much going on as in London but you just need to make more of an effort to find things to do- malls and sunbathing can get boring!

Re: I'm moving to Dubai
The choice is to either experience living a lavish lifestyle which you may not have experienced before (and save little), or be more frugal and (potentially) save a shedload.
Salaries can be silly (as in high silly - even atronomical). A previous poster says 20k aed pcm is average. I am in middle management teaching (at one of the best paying schools) and do not receive this amount. However, I live a fairly reasonable lifestyle (not drinking 20 pints for example), travel every holiday and drive a pretty good car by UK standards.
A few years here will set me up very well for when I return to UK.
There are others here who I work with who have been here for 4 years + and still have nothing to show for it. A little foolish I think.

Re: I'm moving to Dubai
From looking at London2Bahrains blog, it seems she is moving to Bahrain...while some of the advice still stands, it's quite different to Dubai in terms of lifestyle.
