Hi, I moved to Abu Dhabi earlier this week and am slowly finding my feet. My sister in law has come over with us and she is keen to visit a friend in Dubai (he is coming over on holiday here next week). What is the best way to get from Abu Dhabi (we are near Khalifa Park) to Dubai? Is it possible to get there and back in a day? I would prefer not to get a taxi as I'm guessing it will be quite pricey.

Well, a taxi is easy - about 180 dhs there and 250 back (Dubai taxis are more expensive). Otherwise I'm fairly sure there's a bus service you can get.

there is a bus but not from khalifa park, but you would have to catch from the bus station i think it only costs 20dhs. really it would be a taxi which will cost you more like 200 odd.

The red & white RTA buses leave about every 20 mins from AD bus station on 9th Street (next to the Al Whada Mall). 20 Dhs one way.

AED 20 from Ab Dab to Dubai?? That has to be the best value-for-money bus service in the world!

Am I right in assuming we are not talking luxury coach travel?

its just one of the standard coaches, so yes its not bad value.

Yes, the coaches have AC and are very comfortable

surpised no one has picked up on the, can you do it in a day comment. There are thousands that commute daily between Dubai and AD. Enjoy your day out

Sounds good value. I have a mate coming into AD airport next week. Does the bus service run via AD airport to Dubai as well?

If it's Etihad Airways, they have their own bus. It goes from AD airport to just behind the Etihad office in Sh Zayed Road.

They only run about 4 or 5 services a day though..
