Default How to do Musandam?

Anyone got advice on Musandam? Looking to do a one or two night trip in Jan or Feb with my parents. They're in their 60s/70s and Mum certainly won't camp on the beach so is there anywhere to stay down there? Or is it a case of staying in RAK and doing a day trip?

Advice gratefully received.

Hotels in Musandam - well, Khasab really are the Golden Tulip Hotel which is fine...food is a bit hit and miss but its in a nice location. The new, and fancy hotel is the Six Senses Hideaway at Zighy Bay.

We did a dolphin tour - arranged it ourselves by heading down to the docks and negotiating rates.

How long from RAK? Is it do-able in a day from there?

we did an overnight in the Golden Tulip - nice, if a bit small and basic by Dubai standards (ie, completely normal for the rest of the world!), but such a beautiful, peaceful location - and then a half-day dhow/dolphin trip (organised by the company that has an office in the hotel), which was absolutely perfect. We had a toddler and small baby at the time and it was great.

Ah, yes. It's an hour ahead of the UAE. We didn't realise it - numpties, I know - until we trundled down for the dhow cruise, but the lovely chaps loaded us into a speedboat to catch up, which was even better!

@ Original Sunshine

We must be kind of weird then because we rather like RAK. It's a rather more chilled (ie not in your face, bling bling, we do it bigger and better) place than Dubai where we live and had another great night up there at the Cove Rotana a couple of weekends ago.

Much cheaper, too!

The Cove is fantastic.

As for Musandam - the boat trip where you see dolphins etc is very nice,
