Is it me or has the housing fee gone up for the last couple of months?

My DEWA bill seems to have gone upon average around 70aed? Not much in the grand scheme of things but my bill used to always be under 400 aed a month now its creeping up to 500aed.

Anyone else?

Housing fee is based on either:

1) 5% of your rent (if you have a contract that has been registered)
2) 5% of the market rent (if not registered).

70 AED/ month more -- did your rent go up by 16k AED? or are you being bench marked to a market rent?

still arguing about my rent and the increase they are asking for is 5k so not 16k

what does the housing fee actually go towards anyway?

Think of it like a counsel tax darling..rubbish collection, street lights etc.
I don't pay HT :-D

No. Not the housing tax.

If you were suddenly paying the tax it'd go up a few hundred.

I went from paying <100 AED to >300 AED when the housing tax was added to my dewa bill because I was a goody two shoes and signed up for it.

Should have kept my mouth shut.

for dewa bill i meant. with the housing fee it shouldnt change surely as its 5% of rent etc
