Can anybody recommend a website/agency for myself to contact for a job working in the middle east. It would be to work within a hospital. Im havi g great difficulty in getting the ball rolling. I just want to get out there and start working.

Lots of Western medical personnel in various parts of the ME. Surely there must be specialist recruiters hiring for KSA, UAE, Qatar etc ?

You could try contacting the major hospitals directly and apply through their websites or ask who their recruiters are.

In which case I imagine you'll be competing with Filipinas/os who don't command western salaries.

I did for 4 1/2 years up until this spring, and although not in the medical profession I did, like all expats, visit hospitals from time to time. The only western medical staff I met was a dentist, but no doubt there are doctors there also--but I never once saw anyone in a role similar to yours who wasn't from the Philippines, the subcontinent or the Far East. I doubt they earn more than £2k per month, and will most likely be 3 to a bedroom. Sorry to piss on your chips, and I hope someone in the industry comes along and proves me wrong...

The CSSD supervisor at one of the major Riyadh hospitals is Western. Another hospital also had a Western CSSD head but he left a few years ago, not sure who replaced him. As mentioned, the other staff are mostly Filipino's. Certain hospitals (ie those I mentioned) in Saudi at least, will pay for western supervisors in many clinical/technical areas. It helps them when it comes accreditation time.

Might be worthwhile checking Sidra in Qatar, they seem to be hiring AND paying decent salaries for the right people.

Yes, there are some Western MD's, but most are in senior and/or advisory roles. You won't come across them for your average hospital visit.

I lived and worked in the Middle East for many years and have experienced clinics and hospitals there. Had a quadruple by-pass at Al-Sa'ad in Khobar as well as lots of minor treatments. When I left in 2011 there were very few Western medical staff. A few nurses, but most doctors and all technical staff were from Asia or South Africa. Why pay Western salaries when you can hire South Africans at less than half the rate ? Filipinos are even cheaper.
