Default Golfing Society's Doha, and AOB

Hello
I'm hoping to arrive in Doha next month, and I'm wondering if there's any golfing society's in Doha.

also any other info on golf would help.

I last worked in Qatar 2008-09, so I know a little bit, but can't seem to find any updated info online

There are a number of societies playing at the golf club on the academy in the evening.

Some are company related but the majority are mixed.

Still only one golf club in Doha.

is it cheap enough for a round of golf?

Qar 210 for 9 holes if playing with a society or member.

It is similar to other ME courses.

Full membership is approx. QR 28,000 plus QR 5,000 registration (one off). The club is grossly oversubscribed and depending who you work for could take anywhere between 6 - 12 months to get in and there is no guarantee of membership being extended to you.

This is the reason that societies are very popular as a lot of people do not want to lay out that amount of cash, plus the ability to play at night under floodlights on the academy course.
