I guess it's to do with the fee the credit card companies are charging the petrol companies...
I didn't know about the new rule and I often go out without cash cause I figure I can always use my card...

well this is most inconvenient!! Why can they not just add 0.5% to your bill if you pay by cc?

at least they are asking if you want to pay by card before filling up, rather than just filling up then saying no cards.

this country is already miles behind in card technology. Credit/debit card fraud here must be huge.

Banks do not allow retailers to surcharge for card use, as that would discourage their use. I got charged a cc fee at a petrol station a week or so before this whole thing happened, sounds like the they tried to put surcharges in place but then the banks put a stop to it.
Artificially fixed fuel prices make for quirks like this.

i'm amazed they are asking...they don't usually take the initiative here. It really pees me off in spinney's that they don't ask you if you have an airmiles card, i've lost loads of points cos i only remember after the transaction is completed, and then they say it's too late...idiots!

at all the Spinney's Ive been to there are clear signs saying you have to present your airmiles card before they start.

i know...but, in boots, they ask you every time before you pay...just thought it was quite a simple thing that the spinney's staff could do...clearly it's just me though!!
