Default Food Shopping Doha

Hi, We've just moved to Doha, could anyone recommend a supermarket that sells some British food like Bisto. We've been using Carrefour at the Villagio but its a nightmare to get parked outside the store. Thanks Kim

Have you tried shopping Friday morning (between 8:00am and 10:00 am)?

Go to LuLu , Spinney's or Family Food. They all have British stuff. Oh, and Mega Mart.
LuLu is the cheapest and most busy. Spinney's and Mega Mart are the most expensive.

I don't know if you are working, if not, go either in the morning or between 12 and 2 o'clock. Avoid the weekends if you possible can.

I only use Megamart or Spinneys. Yes its expensive but you know what you are getting and I like the food. Meat in Megamart is probably the best in Doha

Just be prepared to pay through the nose. I picked up a tub of Clover Butter (well it kind of is?) and was elated that I could get it in Qatar. That was until two days later when I looked at the price... 39 Riyals!! (£6.63)

butter is expensive yes but extra virgin olive oil is not and it is fair as quality. You can use extra virgin olive oil in many many recipes instead of butter, and it is more healthy. I use olive oil for pan cakes and for béchamel sauce instead of butter, and also in cakes. Just use the same amount in weight or volume. I can tell you there is no much difference in taste.
