Afternoon,
The local airline here are true to Mr Habtoor's (I think it was) interview, not very friendly to Dubai based flyers.
Dubai - Tokyo - Dubai = AED 4,800
London - Dubai - Tokyo - Dubai - London = AED 4,600

For the week I'm looking at in late August BA is quoting around 2500 AED to fly to LHR from DXB return. Emirates is quoting 5500 AED
Same dates out of DOH has BA and QAR the same same (35 QAR difference) at around 4000 QAR for both.

i'm flying end of April and looked at other airlines all of whom where less by around AED 300-500. I just prefer the flight times with Emirates.

Same for me at Christmas going to Australia. I start my journeys in UK anyway so always have a ticket home, it was much cheaper to use that and fly to U.K.....then have a stop over in UAE before going on to Aus!

I have a return to the UK always booked as well, but don't want to go back any time soon...frustrating.

Flights are a;; over the place at the moment. Going back to the UK for a couple of United games at the end of the month. Emirates were about 75% more than BA. Checked all the others and they weren't much better either. That said I found a nice ticket on BA, entered all my card details etc only to be told it was no longer available. Went through the process again and it was 800 AED more! Grrrr.
In terms of loyalty to a brand, I don't really have one. I have points schemes will Emirates, Etihad, BA and KLM but I don't fly enough to get any benefit out of any of them.
Don't really care about flight times although I am happier with a late night flight as I can crash for the whole duration.

I have been using qatar airways recently to fly back from AD to Edinburgh. They were best price all last year. Etihad always double...
joined the QA program and got to 5 points off silver, then their prices have gone up to Etihad levels. Last flight was with BA and a great price. Then used the QA program with BA flight and got points through the one world alliance thing. Now Silver!

I use a credit card for everything and pay in full each month and get sufficient miles to pay for flights. Use miles for your flights as the amount of miles required never changes, unlike prices. This is an Etihad credit card through ADCB.
