Emirates Today
Who's read it and what's your verdict?
I think it going to be good. Just seen it for the first time.
About time the newspaper market here had a shake-up.
TA5 - saw your photos!

I like it. General layout is good, picture repro could do with improving.
Looks like it's setting it's stall out to be provocative, which is good.

For the record, i didn't actually send those pictures out. I sent them to some friends, who sent them to friends, who sent them to friends, then the person who wrote the article got them and tracked all the way back to me.
Would be good to have a bigger newspaper that isn't a government propaganda machine, although I believe at the end of the day all the advertising by gov't related entities makes most publications into puppets.

Re: Emirates Today
Well - the paper is owned by Sheikh Mo, but he has apparently given them a free hand to do what they like.
We'll see if it lasts - but speculative stories like on day one (about the Olympics) are a good start.

On the whole I like it, and I expect that it will evolve and improve as time passes.
But unless they improve their website quite a lot, I won't be reading it as regularly as Gulf News or 7Days. I like my papers online.

Re: Emirates Today
and i found this article on it,
Clinton used for safe sex
A company in China has begun marketing condoms under the brand names Clinton and Lewinsky, apparently seeking to exploit the White House affair that almost led to the dismissal of the US president.
Spokesman Liu Wenhua of the Guangzhou Rubber Group said the company was handing out free Clinton and Lewinsky condoms as part of a bid to raise awareness of its products.
He said that after the promotion ends, the Clinton condoms will go on sale in for $3.72 (Dh13.65) for a box of 12, while the Lewinskys will be priced at $2.35 (Dh8.62).
"The Clinton will be the top of our line. The Lewinsky is not quite as good," Liu said.
He added that the company had chosen the Clinton name because consumers viewed him as a responsible person, who would want to stress safe sex.
I Think Bush would be more appropriate

I thought would post that story of UAE students being beaten-up in Austria. I rather have those naif police in roller blades than commandos patroling the city.
