Default Electrical Appliances

Quick question, I understand the UAE is 50Hz / 220V but I will be moving there from a country that is 60Hz / 220V. Does that cause any problems for vacuums, dishwashers and such things with an electric motor? (I understand electronics should be fine - right?)

Thanks

TME

Anything with a motor won't work quite as well with the change in hertz, nor do they generally last quite as long.

How much they degrade in performance depends on what they are though.

.... from a right hand man?

ANYWAY, thanks for the advice. Kind of what I guessed, but nice to know that stuff will work. I guess we will bring the vacuum but leave the aging dishwasher.

Wise. Younger, more nubile alternatives are readily available.

Exactly. We haven't bought a dishwasher tablet for nearly 5 years after we upgraded to the rice powered model.

I had a sense of foreboding when I posted 'aging dishwasher' but assumed the mature international audience on a site such as this would treat my comments with the seriousness and depth intended .......
