You can take the guy out of Newcastle and all that! But 17 hours, that's one big piss-up!

Even by Dubai standards!

7 days have not reported any deaths and have said the accident was caused by a puncture.

Is there anywhere you can go in Dubai and not have a crash?!!

In the words of Mandy Rice-Davies, "Well they would say that, wouldn't they" Funny how the "accident's" cause has been determined within 24 hours don't you think?

update - he checked in yesterday morning for the 7.30 flight to Nice. He still has not arrived in Nice. Slept in airport after a skinful and was eventually offered economy with lufthansa this afternoon, took it as nothing else available. He was 1st class on Emirates! no offer of compensation, nothing. Absolutely disgusting. that was nearly 30 hours in Dubai airport!

Just got back from Doha. There was no bar at the airport, but I had the foresight to give up yesterday when my flight was cancelled and stayed at the Marriott...where there is one.

Well, what would you rather believe - news from the real world, or sensational-sounding whispers and rumours from the second cousin of the bloke who knows someone who used to clean the toilets at Terminal 1?

required check in at auckland airport at 3pm wed local time for emirates flight to dubai....did the online check in at 10am that day and no sign of any problems....then get to counter at 4ish for my 6pm flight only to be told the flight is delayed by 3 hours to 9pm due the accident at dubai and it's effects on crew resting periods.
Understand the delay - but it was harldy a last minute thing given that the event was 2 days prior.

I've only just finished whinging about the qatar airways flight to UK and back as well.....

Solution?

Give up flying. With emirates.
