Exclamation Dubai: I found a baby bird!!! :|

In the Dubai Museum at roughly 7pm, there was a baby bird on the floor. Trying it's best to walk... it's wings randomly spreading out. After touring the place, i made an agreement with my parents that we could take it home. When i held it, it immedietly fell into a deep sleep... I thought it was dead. O_o
At home, I fed it water from a bottle cap (it wouldn't take the syringe) and tried to feed it carrot+potatoe soup (not salted). Then mashed bread+water, but it wouldn't eat it. It took perhaps three small gulps of water...
I check up on it every hour. Still breathing. It got cold inside, so i put it outside, loosely wrapped in a warm cloth. It warmed up.. Hasn't touched anymore food. I'm scared it will starve, but wouldn't it wake up and tweet. If it dies, it's best in it's sleep, good luck to it. Should i try to wake it up to feed it? Any suggestions??

I have put alarms at 2am, 4am, 6am, 7am and 8am to check on it... Sometimes it flaps it's small wings. It's about 10cm long and very thin...

That helps.

I don't know the breed. It looks like a miniscule falcon, though i'm still unsure.

3am: Bird still alive.
I switched off the A.C. and took it inside. put more bedding (clothes, leaves) in the bowl and put the bird in it's loosely wrapped up cloth back in. It drank a little (I mean perhaps 1 ml.) water. Seemed so tired. It's eyes open rarely. It's warm inside, i've kept the window open anyway. Check ups now every hour.

Any suggestions, please?

Well done for trying to look after it! Does it have feathers yet? If not and its eyes are closed, its not very old. as it gets older and feels better, its eyes will open. You will need to keep it warm all the time, like you have been doing.

You can make a little nest for it out of toilet paper, by wrapping lots of paper round your fingers, so its just one finger width bigger than the bird. You need to feed it very hour or so as well as giving it access to water. You will need to put mashed up wet dog biscuits in the syringe, and really slowly push the food out into the back left side of the throat. Try not to squirt the food into the mouth otherwise it could choke. It will probably only take 1ml or 2ml of food per hour. More often than not, the bird will gape (mouth open) when it is hungry.

You wont need to feed it after the sun has gone down unless its a nocturnal breed. good luck!

Without its mother, it will probably not survive but its nice that you care enough to look after the poor thing. Good luck but watch out for predatory cats.

It won't stop sleeping. I can't get it to open it's mouth. It just sits three, wrapped up. My father said it would be best to 'let it go' but i can't. I want to try everything I can.
Baby bird - I didn't mean newborn. It has feathers and it likes to climb out of the 'nest' and spread out it's wings. Rarely does it opens it's eyes, i have trouble waking it up to feed it. It still hasn't eaten/drunk anything....
Should I force open it's mouth!!!!?????

Hmmm, I do somewhat understand your misery...as I had a little pet turtle once and when it got sick, I had the vet do anything he could to save it..he even put the poor thing on a drip.....to no avail though...bring it to a vet and see what they say....but think about it, the longer the bird is in captivity, the less it will be able to fend for itself if and when it is healthy again.

Good luck!

^^ Thanks.
My mother tells me that a vet cannot do anything to help such a small creature... But the vet could give some medication, because i can see that the poor bird is ill. Or the vet would put it down... :|

Mum is not correct, we have very small terrapins and one got sick but we left it hoping it would get better. It died!

A week later a second got sick so we took it to the vet who gave it an injection of antibiotics into its tiny flipper.

That was six months agao and all is well.

Vets will treat small animals.
