Dubai...day to day living costs....
 

hi all...i have a couple of offers in dubai which i have calculated that after decent rental allowance and school fee's for my kids i would have roughly 29,000 32,000 per monthleft to live on with all other costs coming from that for a family of 4...would this buy us a good standard of living or just average....we are weighing things up as also have offers in sydney,vancouver and auckland where the offers would buy a v good lifestyle..........any advice would be great as a decision looms..........cheers.

EDIT: Add another 15% to your grocery costs (up since last month!)

PS:If the salary being offered in Sydney...etc gives you a good quality lifestyle then come to Dubai only if you're getting substantially more than what is required to have a good quality lifestyle here.

...been to sydney a few times as lived in new zealand a few years....drawback is remote from europe and family and after a few times the travel gets to be a chore...dubai for us is far more accessible for family...so sydney is further down the yes list for us at the moment..

There you go - decision made! One of the reasons why we live here - we manage a trip home thrice a year - 2 short breaks and then the month long one!

yes.....you could say that but vancouver is also similar travel time and similar salary........

Depends if you like wet and cold weather...
