Default Driving from Dubai to Doha?

Hello,

Any of you know about the logisitics of this?

I'm sure I've heard of people doing this - Novi? What is the drive terrain, the borders, visa issues, insurance (!) etc...

I think it would make a great trip....

Any thoughts on this?

Cheers,

Auto

I believe I've asked this before...

Why?

400kms of UAE desert (and I've been to Jabel Danat so I've driven within 90km of the border) followed by the Saudi border (unless they've sorted out border issues) and then Doha.

I asked first

Or I could ask - why not do it on a scooter? Or, just fly...

Jebel Danat is good actually, the hotel is nice enough. You can usually see turtles or dolphins on the way there on the boat.

On the island the animals roam free but it is a little bit controlled.

why would I have a better time doing that?

sheesh - since when is everyone so concerned with why someone is doing something!

I'd have a better time going the hard way to a city I want to visit, camping on the way if need be. Staying a night in hotel and coming back...

I never realised this behaviour is odd and should be stamped out at all costs!

It's just that other people have different ideas of fun

Driving past the same scenery for 18 hours to look around a small city which even the most ardent supporters say is dull, is not mine ;-)

I guess Zooz means, at least there is a pay-off for Doha-ians coming to Dubai.

... for the same reason that I am going to Bahrain for one night this Friday - 'cos it's there and I'm here and I've never been there and I might like some of it.

Really, I go to some very dull places and have fun. Have you ever been to Skegness? Zurich? Montreaux? Brusselles? I had fun in these places....

Bahrain is more interesting by day than it is by night...and its only moderately interesting by day

The Gulf really is one identikit box.

you hear W10.. it is exactly what i meant.. to reach here and its an anti climax after a nice desert trip.. hotels too pricey too.. with very little to see or do..

i know locals who drive from Doha to Dubai, they say the whole journey on tarmac is 4 hours, you have to cross Saudi border as they occupy a very small strip between uae and qatar.. so you need a transit visa and veil for the ladies (no lady drivers allowed) and no alcohool.. or bacon or pork sausage... from the Saudi border to Doha it is only one hour..

hope this helps
