I have followed this forum for a while and I am impressed by the willingness of all of you to share your (hard-earned) experiences.
Reason for me having followed this forum is that I wanted to get as much information/preparation while waiting for the work permit to be issued before taking up a position in banking in Riyadh.
Now everything has been sorted out and the Visa issued and I am starting to pack me suitcases. One question I have in this respect is what sort of dress code is expected from an western ex-pat in the Riyadh banking world.

Never worked in a bank in Riyadh, but visited many. Most (that I went to) didnt have Western expats, but Saudis wearing dish dash etc.
The odd few westerners I saw wore suit and tie (and shoes and socks etc).
In public/ outside work time (if its still the same as when I was there), shorts are a no-no despite 40 degree heat plus. T-shirts acceptable, sleeveless tank tops not (is that what they are called?) .

Yeap - banking world just the same here - suit and tie...you'll be thankful though as the air con is so cold you actually don't mind wearing your jacket all the time.
