Default Doha Vs Bahrain

Hi

Can anyone give us any information about Bahrain, we have had two job offers one in Doha the other in Bahrain, OH went to Doha two weekends ago and said it was good, but we no nothing of Bahrain - From sites it seems okay, but can anyone living there please tell us a bit about the place. so hopefully we can make a bit of an informed decision.

Thanks

I've only visited Doha with work, but lived in Bahrain for a few years. I personally prefer Bahrain - rents are still cheap (in comparison), and seemed to be a better choice of places to eat/drink.
Bahrain has a much more relaxed pace of life than the other countries I've been to in the gulf, and Bahrainis are a very friendly bunch.

We used to live in Saudi and would hop (or crawl across depending on the rush for the beer) across the causeway to Bahrain most weekends. Its expanding, like most other places in the Middle East. Pretty good range of shops and some great places to go out at night.

Country Club/Dilmun Club/Rugby Club are a few of the clubs that Expats hang out at. We have friends from Saudi who now live there and they really like it.

One thing it has that is a plus compared to Doha, is that the rental prices for housing are much lower. In Bahrain you could get practically a palace for a price that would get you a small lego house in Qatar.

We are off there on Thursday for the weekend, to indulge our craving for bacon sarnies(NO pork products in Qatar unless you know someone from the military base), mai tais at Trader Vics, and a decent book shop, oh and to spend some time with our friends lol
