AD generally cheaper but that is changing rapidly as they are now throwing money at the place like no tommorow. I always found that most things (electrical goods etc) were imported to Qatar from Dubai - so more expensive. |

Re: Doha or not Doha that is the question...?
Hello, stranger back!!
Been round the world virtually (at least I feel like it)! lol Been back to Uk, seen lots and lots of rellies and friends, came back to Doha and met a fantastic Indian couple and their small boy (age 5) who invited us for a lovely meal last week and I enjoyed a fantastic Indian curry (as most who know me from NZ..thats a rare thing to find in NZ) :o We are loving Doha but not the price of the rentals, looking at moving company, OH been offered a job with a UK company working between Uk and Qatar...but we are heading back to NZ later this month (not for good) lol just to unload our 7 suitcases of junk (although kids think its good stuff lol) and repack with Uk winter clothes (UGH!) and also a few more summer things for Qatar. BTW I ADORE this climate here and simply cannot get enough of it! :D :D I love Doha, I love its malls and its people..but wish the landlords would reduce the rent a bit!! So, its all change at moment, 3 more weeks here, back to NZ for 2-3 weeks, then back to Uk then back to Qatar....I am quite dizzy! But to answer Alex's question..YES it is definately better than NZ (IMO) especially the work, climate, cost of living and the electric..well...I am amazed at how cheap it is, even with washer on alll the time (well it was till I blew it up lol) air con on all day and night, we are paying around $30NZD per month for both electric and water!!!! Beat that! Catch ya all soon x |
