Coming Dubai- clueless young brit
Hi- new here,
Finished MSc- Accepted job offer in Dubai- awaiting visa confirmation, overdue- I’ll be on my way very soon - Young, single, Brit- don’t really know anyone in Dub
I’ve had a quick flick through some of the threads but it would be great if anybody’s in/ been in same situation- wanted to get in touch????
Main things I need to sort- settle, get to know people, the areas, find somewhere to live- be ideal if anyone has- a room to rent??

Do you pronounce your name 'oooo-beee-dooo-beee'?
It's not a problem that you have no friends in 'Dub'.
There are many, many, many people like yourself.
You will fit into the city just fine and dandy.
To help you out:
Where to live? Dubai Marina.
What car to buy? FJ Cruiser.
Where to drink? Barasti or Double Decker.
Where to be on Friday? Yalumba brunch.
Where to be on Saturday? Barasti beach bar.

Can I ask what you'll be doing in Dubai with a shiny new MSc? Teaching or something productive?
The marina isn't the only place to live by the way, there is the greens, tecom, downtown... you pays your price and all that.

*****.
What's your total package?
A decent villa or flat share will run you at least 3500 a month. Car hire will be 2000 a month. Living expenses another 3000 a month (minimum).
How old are you?

Re: Coming Dubai- clueless young brit
Getting me worried now guys ha, total package is AED 9k/ month- I have been told its ‘ok’ and had the contract looked over by my friend’s dad who worked out there.
It is a Starting/ proper entry-level job. The Indian ownership/ work ethic is a slight concern as apparently they get their monies worth and there are few (possible none) expats. I believe they are unable to issue any more Indian visas), and they want to improve practices- so have been looking for fresh well educated people from other locations.
It is not going to be a walk in the park, it should be exciting, and I could hopefully find something better, in Dubai if I like it!??
Thanks for your comments
