Christmas in Dubai
Having noticed that people do not reply to threads that are quite crap.....I am not expecting many replies to this one, but here goes.....
Christmas in Dubai is S**t. How are you supposed to get in to the Christmas spirit without actually having any snow. I am used to being stuck in traffic jams (i know you get them here) but not jams caused by people being snowed in or waking up at 7.00am, having to go out and scrape the ice off your car windscreen and driving to work with hat, scarf and gloves on cause your car is sooo bloody cold?
I know you will probably all say that I should probably bugger off home back to Scotland but just felt like having a winge about it. I do like the sunshine, but all I am asking for is a bit of snow! Is that too much.
Thank you.
p.s I am going home for Christmas and very much looking forward to it.

For me..its the children that make Xmas, its not the same when they are grown up.
And... in a few years we will have the Snow Dome... it WILL snow on Xmas day...

Re: Christmas in Dubai
Oh what rubbish - Christmas isn't about snow. It is summer in December in many places in the world & they never have snow.
Your Christmas in Dubai may be sh1t, but mine isn't. It is what you and your friends/family make it. If you are a miserable bugger, you'll have a miserable time.

As far as I can remember, its not very often that it snows on Xmas day anyway, SYB (M.I.P) can probably give us the stats on it...

Re: Christmas in Dubai
Thanks for your wonderful merryments. Xmas is about the kids too and I suppose not having any is making it rubbish for me. Might actually head to Ski Dubai, it would be my first time.
As for snow on xmas day, it does not even need to snow then for me as long as it snows sometimes.
Also, you are right Meow, I am a miserable bugger.

Re: Christmas in Dubai
snow at xmas is a romantic notion which will be destroyed within days of getting back to the uk when you realsise that its nice for 1 maybe 2 days at most before it turns into a grey poluted slush from hell. Thats if you even see any!
at that point you will step out the front door, go flying and put your back out, at which point you will inevitably start cursing the cold/ice/slush/lack of council gritters etc. You wil also curse the fact that it gets everywhere and your floors are constantly wet and ponder how after several thousand years of practice the Uk still cant work out what the **** to do when it snows, railways that work in siberia year round will inexplicably be crippled by a mere dusting of white powder, supermarkets will struggle to get produce that the inuit enjoy...etc etc.
merry ****ing xmas
(nb the romantic snowy notion of xmas is artificial and constantly reinforced by the advertising festival formally known as christmas and dont get me started on santa)
(nb 2 having said all that I'm feeling rather xmasy this year and cant wait!)

Re: Christmas in Dubai
I was wondering what i've been missing by being in the UAE... not snow or shopping or tinsel... it's the annual Daily Mail scare stories about Chrimbo being banned! Thanks BB for making me feel it's a true Chrissy after all
