chinese takeaways

Re: chinese takeaways
From my experience...pretty much everywhere.
But if you like. I could tell you that I (being ethnically Asian) have experienced far more racism in the north and in Scotland (which is a shame as I was born there) than I ever have in London (in which I have very very rarely experienced such things)
If you like, I can also tell you that while you may use it as a jovial term and in good faith, a huge number of Asians have been called a p*ki or a ch*nk in far more sinister and threatening manner. Thus a negative association with the word.
Incidentally, rural Cheshire/Manchester and Wales being the worst places for overt racism.

And they enjoy chasing cheese down a hill. Strange place.

Re: chinese takeaways
actually, i agree with that totally. I was brought up to repect all people and have lived lots of diverse places, as have most on here, to learn and embrace new cultures.
Unfortunately there are a majority of people who dont accept this. These people exist in all communities in the UK.
Nasty people are nasty people because they are nasty. Not because they are black, white, yellow etc.

But remember this debate began with me pointing out the use of one particular word...the broader debate I agree with

I started all of this off, and have been thinking about what I said originally, which I think was I am not going all the way to London for a chinky - referring to a meal not a person???
