Cat advice needed

Isnt that just just convincing yourself that you dont have a responsibility though?...oh,if i only let it in the house occasionally,it will still only be a stray?"...the minute you start feeding it on a regular basis that cat becomes dependant on you,and when it suddenly stops because you pop off on holiday it is exactly the same as if it was living in the house or not.
We now have a stray that used to eat the leftovers from our own cat, but since she has now moved inside with her kittens I am now feeding the stray so she has become 'ours' as well...
When we go on holiday the maid will still come in 3x a week and leave food and water for all of them, I wouldn't dream of just buggering off without having someone feeding them...

And I applaud Ins on his caring nature.
Anyone that says drown it is welcome to meet me down a dark alley anytime they wish... pick on someone your own size.

Agreed. Once you make a commitment to regularly feed a cat, whether it lives inside or outside makes not a hoot of difference.

Bollocks...we feed the birds on a regular basis but don't expect them to become attached...we have eight stray cats we regularly feed. They eat in plenty of other places too, as they often go days without dropping by and I see them scavenging by the local dumpster. If you disagree with our idea of helping them, maybe we should stop feeding them and let them take their chances elsewhere.

The problem is by feeding the cats, you give them a food source that they become dependent upon for part of their food needs - while they are getting that, they have to look in less other places for food.
For them to lose an important regular food source in the height of summer would be potentially catastrophic for them.

Birds are a bit different to cats...
