Default Car Servicing

Hi all,

Sorry to be a pain, I moved to Abu Dhabi to work 4 months ago and I'm loving it so far but I could do with some help finding a decent car servicing centre who don't charge the earth. I've done searches on here and generally the places recommended are in Dubai which is a bit of a trek as you know!

I went down the expat owned used car route and could do with some basics doing such as oil/filter and diff fluid changes, however locating a reputable garage is difficult (most of my colleagues went down the hire/buy route so don't know) and I've been advised to steer clear of ADNOC service centres.

So does anyone know of any decent places around AD? If not then a trip to Saluki it may well turn out to be!!

Failing that, where's the best place to get spares (oil, filters, etc.) without getting ripped off by the dealers?

Cheers

Nowt wrong with ADNOC for the filter and oil changes matey, reasonably priced and done quickly. In all honesty, they aren't that bad for tyres either.

For servicing, I've heard Bosche are good and there's a garage round beside the Fairmont / ShangRiLa sort of area I'll try and get the name.

best to use the dealers more expensive but they will give you proper parts etc.... you need to make sure that your wheels and brakes work!!!

Hi there, cheers for the help mate much appreciated :-)

I used to do this stuff myself but don't want to be buying a load of tools and stuff out here if I can help it! I shall check out Bosch too. :-)

Ad Noc are very good. I once had the car serviced by the Toyota maindealer. Battery died on the way home (not their fault). I went into ADNOC for a battery and they checked the fluids while they were there -- ended up topping up the low power-steering fluid and break oil.

It's all shit here - just different levels of it. Price and quality are not related.

Agreed as above. Nothing wrong with the petrol station service centres for filters, fluids etc.

Agree with using ADNOC for routine oil and filter changes. I've bought tyres cheaper elsewhere though (and yes, they are new ones!).
For bigger servicing jobs, for my newer car I still use the dealer, but the older one goes to someone who was very highly recommended to me by an expat from the Abu Dhabi 4x4 club. He now runs his own small garage in Mussafah, and will collect and return your car. He buys original replacement parts from the main dealers (and copies you the receipts, returns replaced parts etc). His name is Eric. PM me if you want his number.
