Agreed - we always seem to shop around and then go back at carrefour. The department store above Lulu is similar, but recent items we needed were a little dearer there, (and also at plug ins, Co-op etc) so back to carrefour it was.

For reference - don't even go into Cost-less - The shops were designed by women (seriously) and everything is laid out by brand instead of item? Men physicaly cannot shop there - we are not compatible with the design...Honestly - It's true.

If you want a fridge - you want to go to the frdge section yes? Not have to visit every stand in the shop to see what irrelevant items each brand manufactures in addition to what you want? Utter bollox :-)

Haven't bought any recently but I found Cost-less at Mina better than Carrefour! Look on the boards at Abelas and Spinneys and you might find a bargain. My friend bought a nearly new cooker and a fridge freezer last month from someone who was leaving Abu Dhabi due to redundancy.

That's a good point - 2nd hand is a good option in a transient place like AD. More for furniture personaly than electrical goods, as even spanking new only seem to last 5 minutes these days

Theres a dealer called "Nefertiti's" does job lot house clearances etc for expats leaving and sells the kit

Theres a little shop in Khalidia and a warehouse in Mina, up pats Toys R Us ful off kit. Bit dusty perhaps, but nothing wrong with it

Their warehouse in Mina used to be good but it's a load of old rubbish now so better to check on the shop.

make sure you buy quality, not some chinese brand you've never heard of because 'we'll only be here a few years' as it will lead to a whole world of pain.

Lulu hypermarket in Al Wada mall. Looked at a few places, and found them to be quite good. Nefertiti had a load of rubbish in their Kalidiya shop. It was quite grubby.

I bought my washing machine and fridge freezer off dubizzle, although by the time id paid for a man to move it and someone else to plug the machine in ( it was a lot more complictaed than that sounds) I may as well have bought new- had it delivered and fitted- would have been far less hassle.
