Being Gay in Bahrain
Hello,
I am a young professional and considering a great job offer in Bahrain. My only reservation at this stage, is their attitudes towards gays.
Bahrain is a Muslim country and homosexuality is illegal. At the end of the day though, for me, if it doesn't affect me, I don't really care. My sexuality does not define who I am and nor do I make a point of advertising it. I guess you could say Im reasonably straight acting.
I have read alot of forums and am still unclear what it would be like to live as a gay guy in Bahrain
I am seeking objective opinions on gay life in Bahrain, or what it might be like to live in the middle east.
Many thanks in advance

You are lucky because over here you can hold hands without getting grief from the Police or whoever. It's a gay paradise, especially recognising the high rate of homosexuality among Arabs generally.

You don't need statistics - that is pedantic. It is street wisdom and experience that demonstrates the view that homosexuality - at least in men - is more obviously prevalent in Middle East. (I nearly said 'ME').
