Anyone in Bahrain?
I am intending to be in Bahrain for the weekend (across from KSA) and was wondering if it's really as bad as we are led to believe or should I keep away?
Was there last weekend and had no problems and felt safe. But that was before the military forces moved in.

depends on what you want to do- everything, well almost, is closed, curfew 4pm-4am certain areas- seef district to muharraq before the bridge.
If you have mates who live in or near a village, them prepare to being confined to their house...shelves are emptying out in some grocery shops, short staffed and long queues... I'm told bands of youths (protestors) are still roaming...well, my experience anyway.

Nothing is open anyway.

I think Saudi air have flights to Mogadishu if you want a quiet weekend
What part of youths running around with swords, rubber bullets being fired, military everywhere, shops running low of food etc etc makes you think that a weekend in Bahrain is a fun idea??
I would stay away mate to be honest whilst things settle and head to Dubai instead

The airport is open and accessible.
average flight delay is 40 mins though local cancellations i.e. GCC have increased a little during the day
Only major flight cancellation tonight is KL so best check on the weekend before coming over

I already have flights booked from Bahrain for a week in the Maldives so cannot change flights.

Our company has explicitly banned all staff from travelling by road (from KSA) into Bahrain. Previously, we were 'strongly advised against' travelling, now it's a downright ban.
If however, you have a flight out of Bahrain, they *should* let you in over the causeway providing you can show ticket and flight details.

Never underestimate a man in Saudi needs for a shag.

Exactly. Saudi without Bahrain is going to be tough and they are saying this could last months. Can't believe this, Bahrain is all there is here.
