So, finally got to muscat. Have to say: taken back by the friendly locals and expats, the scenery and the way it operates. Very clean and well organised! Trying to figure out the catch!

Have a couple of questions.

- can anyone recommend a back massage place ? Google keeps throwing up dodgy parlours. Just want a good cheap back massage.

- any idea if VoIP is possible? I have a call centre side business and was hoping to make a few calls from here. Presumably VPN will help me get around this?

- should I buy a car? I'm planning on being here two years. If I rent a car, c. 210 Rials a month, that works out about the same price as a second hand car..

VoIP - not really if you want video. Voice should be ok, but not great. Yes you will need an illegal vpn.

Bestcars if you want something to sell on afterwards. Note that it is hard to sell to anyone a car that is more than five years old, so you need to think this one through very carefully.
Alternative is Volvo resale down in Athaiba. You can get some good bargains on one year old volvos and landies.

I'm snapping up furniture on dubizzle. Is there an easy way to collect all of this stuff? Ie a man with a van? Will struggle on my own I think.

There are many men with vans.
Go to Facebook and look for the group muscat where can I find?
Some of the folks are a bit scary, but generally a good go to place for up to date info
