Question Architecture/Design in Dubai

Hi everyone,

I have been researching employment agencies endlessly online in search of a job in Architecture/Design field. I'm planning to visit Dubai around the end of April for a very short period of time, and was wondering if anyone could recommend some firms or interior designers to me?

I have 3 yrs experience in Architectural consulting and plenty of technical writing and autoCAD skills, and currently live in Chicago, IL. By the way - in case your wondering why I'm considering Dubai, I use to live there (I attended HS at ASD).

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Well I would say that if you are into architecture then you should check out the companies building buildings. Possibly Damac Properties, Emaar and other real estate companies. Sorry if I am not that helpful, but I know very little about your field.

Default Thanks

Hi Philipz,

Thanks for the references, I'll look into them. I appreciate your help. I'm not sure if its just me, but there seems to be very little information on architectural/design firms in Dubai. I would expect that there would be a lot more considering the amount of construction and development thats been happening.

Anyway, I'll keep searching, thanks

Well I have seen alot of UAE websites and have collected them into TEN Dir, but from what I can remember, there were very few construction companies, but do check here for a list of building and construction companies.

Thumbs up architects in dubai

Hi Sowsan

I have also been trawling the internet for contacts in the architectural field with little success! I am looking into setting up an office in dubai. My company specialises in designing and installing staircases and balustrade, especially in glass and metal.
How is your search going? I would be interested to know how you get on when you visit dubai, as I am also planning to head out there this summer. Would be good to exchange contacts with you. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Alison,

Thanks for your response. I had a great time in Dubai, its beautiful! I use to live there 10 yrs. ago, and did not recognize anything this time! Could not beleive the amount of construction adn development happening everywhere I turned.

I interviewed with 6-7 firms and although several expressed interest in hiring me, they have been very slow at getting back to me...I don't know, I'm trying to remain hopeful. Aside from this however, my husband and I have decided to move back to Dubai regardless, hopefully by the end of this summer. My family is moving back to Dubai (they live in Lebanon) and I have some freinds there, so I'm looking forward to moving. I know it won't be easy at first, but its not totally unfamiliar to me.

It would be great if we got in touch though - your business sounds quite interesting. Please shoot me an email when you get a chance at '[email protected]' - look forward to hearing from you!! Ciao!
