Quite likely Aramco will see it the same way

Interesting plot twist… after telling them they can do what they like in terms of rescinding the offer via email, I’ve received an email saying they would like to talk over the phone to see what can be done. |

If that's set you off on one, wait till you get to the Kingdom.

Re: Aramco and the quest for pay slips
I am sure others will be along to comment on the 'madness' soon. I will say straight away that I don't know anything about Aramco - I mean its work culture, benefits etc. I can speak to other companies in Saudi though. There are things that are quite different - for example the request for pay slips. There are often longer working days as well, no work from home culture etc - generally. One specific thing that I want to mention though is that, certainly in our experience, there is very little job security as a western expat. My husband has had a number of colleagues, who moved over with their families being told there is no job for them following re-organisations. Of course it depends on the companies but it is perhaps something to consider - particularly if you have a family, school age kids etc. We have moved a lot and our kids are older so it is fine for us. You seem perfectly happy to stay in the job you have. Unless you have a desire to see a very different place, I would really suggest a lot of thought before you leave it. Good luck with whatever you/they decide

Re: Aramco and the quest for pay slips
Just as an aside..My first offer in Saudi was 5x what I earned net in the UK, after they had seen my salary slips. The company in question operated with salary bands, so everyone got offered similar packages.
As I mentioned in previous responses, data protection/privacy isn't so much a concern here. And can confirm, Saudi working life is madness. Probably best to stay put if that isn't acceptable. |

Re: Aramco and the quest for pay slips
Okay, here's the story: This is 100% legitimate with all PIF or government companies in Saudi. They just need proof of your current salary. I've even seen all my friends being asked to provide either a pay slip or a salary certificate showing their total compensation package. The reason for this is that unfortunately, many people are inflating their current pay to seek higher offers. That's why they'll request your pay slip or salary certificate to verify it. It's the same if you apply for a bank loan – they'll ask for your salary certificate. What Aramco will do is add around 20 to 30% increase to your gross salary (before taxes), plus additional benefits like accommodation and transportation, etc. So, there's nothing to worry about. Just ask your employer to issue the certificate for a bank, then show it to them. You can redact any private information; all they're looking for is your name, company, and salary.

How is this going with Aramco? I am only at first stage of Hire Vue interview and they're asking me for 3 months payslip. In all my years of working in UK, i have never been asked such. I already know they want to use my current pay to benchmark my salary.....i dont quite agree with those practices. My question to you is - have you now submitted your payslip or if you didn't did that stall your opportunity to clinch a role with them.
Im not sure if Zeroinfinite will be back on the forum as they had their offer withdrawn, but you can find the info you need on the link above. I hope that help, good luck. |
