Just bought a new Uni-directional Wlan Antenna (24dbi gain)
This should give me at least a 15,000 meter range for accessing Access points.
I need about 10 metres of Co-ax cable with N-type jack connectors. any idea's if there are any specialist Wlan shops about in Dubai or Abu Dhabi?.
Would also like an MMCX to N-Type convertor so i can use it with my laptop, but thats not as important.
Thanks in advance.

With my old antenna I could pick up 8 access points and multiplex the links and get 2mb link to the net FOC
with the new on i should be able to get about 30-35.
They are quite specialized cables but i will give them a try 2morrow afternoon.
Apologises for being sad and geekish.

Just doing some applied maths to figure out my range with my new antenna.
TX Power = 13db,RX sensitivity=-83db
Antenna gain: 14+14=28db
cable loss: 2x0.6+2x2.5=6.2db
Therefore the maximum distance is 8 kilometres!!!!!!
this was calculated using "Distance (KM)=2x"
So, if your within 8km of SZR and your internet connection starts running slow......unlucky, its me download porn via your link.

While we're in geek mode, what kind of jack socket is used for broadband in Dubai?
It's just that I recently bought a D-Link wireless ADSL router and I'd like to take it to Dubai with me. Presumably, though, even if the jacks are different to the UK, I could get suitable adapters without too much trouble.
