Default Amoebic dysentery outbreak Doha

Hi Guys, just wanted to let everyone know we have an outbreak of Amoebic dysentery here in Doha. I have been seriously ill with it, and I am still really poorly. The hospital told me that they needed to know where I have eaten in the last few weeks, because they are trying to trace the source. Any tummy bugs I would advise go straight to hospital, and get it tested. Do not wait in hope it will get better, it is dangerous and can kill. I have been on a drip for fluids, and pain, but thank goodness I am now at home. ( still very very ill though) Please warn friends that may not read this.

I shall be safe, I see absolutely no point in frequenting a bar or restaurant that cannot serve me an alcoholic drink. Is Macdonalds, Papa Johns or KFC on your 3 week list of places visited??!

Get well soon..

KFC in my experience is the usual culprit, worldwide. Spent three days in Riyadh incredibly poisoned after having one of their aptly named "zinger" burgers.

It's not only where you have eaten! I went down with the same thing a few years ago, and it was traced back to the Water Cooler! - Many of them are disgusting inside, and have never been cleaned!

The ones I have in my house are cleaned each week using the same tablets that you would use for 'Babies Bottles!' I am no longer in the Middle East, but the principle still holds true! - Still in a tropical climate.

Also, there has been a trend for Supermarkets and Restaurants to switch-off their fridges and freezers overnight, and then switch them back on the following morning! - QED!

I picked it up before Ramadan, and it could have been the suppliers of the hotels not just the hotel itself, so I have been told. I went to the last Friday brunch in Choices, and the Intercontinental The Square the night before Ramadan. I haven't eaten out anywhere else, that's what I got for getting greedy having a good blow out before Ramadan started.

Durham boy- 1 day- I wish- I got stuck there for 6!

I think I saw everything there is to see in Doha, souk, mall, beach resort, cinema, city area, pink rabbits- have i missed anything? Also got my vodka taken off of me at customs and god I needed a drink that day- mean buggers!

Actually I guess if I hadn't been glued to CNN waiting for the ashcloud to clear not worrying that I'd missed my friends hen party and stressing if I'd make it back for her wedding and getting 2nd degree sunburn I might have enjoyed it more, i did end up have the presidential suite all to myself which was quite nice iif a bit gaudy (no poxy mini bar though)...

Having vowed never to return, I'm intrigued as to what cructhless knickers are- I know about crotchless ones but not crutchless- could be interesting conversation!

That's me in the clear then. I picked up a 48 hour bug xmas day 2008 was quite possibly the most horrific experience in my life. Whatever I put in my body it got liquefied in milliseconds and ejected from the nearest orrifice at lightning speed. Was the worst xmas I have ever had and all from a 2am Kebab
