Default Accommodation allowance for couples in Qatar

Hi
Both my husband and myself have secured roles in Qatar.
Please would anyone be able to advise if we will both be eligible for housing allowance?
My husband contract offers different amounts on various allowances/benefits depending on whether single or family
(He is due to commence shortly and initially I was coming out with him under his visa)
I've now been offered a job and not sure whether it's best to be hired as a locally based person or on individual sponsorship ?
Hope that makes sense?
Thankyou to anyone able to clarify best route

There's really no standard answer. Mostly likely you'll lose one of them but it's all employer discretion. Talk to them is the only way.

Or lie and cheat... Take two place and sublet one kind of stuff.

Family allowance is usually higher than a singles allowance. A lot higher. My guess is that whatever allowance you might lose will be compensated by your husband being on a family allowance.

Then again the employers might not really care. Your husband takes the family allowance and your employer just gives you the standard housing allowance. Many if not most companies now treat allowances as an accounting percentage of your salary and it's not really a separate allowance. This reduces the company's end of service obligations to you as it's only based on the basic salary not the total package.

If you're sponsored by your husband then you do not need a NOC or an exit permit to leave the country from your employer which in a place like Qatar is pure gold dust.

Regarding the housing allowance I'm not sure but doubling up is rare .

My wife works and she gets the housing allowance, if I get a job she has been told that she would lose it and my employer would then be responsible for our housing. Same with flight home allowances.
