Does anybody know how long the journey is from Dubai marina to Abu Dhabi airport in time / distance ?

yes, it's on the road in. I would allow an hour, but would says it's only about 45mins

Airport to AD downtown is another 25/30 min depending on the traffic.
Marina to Airport is about an hour.

???The same goes for Emirates Millhose's informative reply. How on earth can AD airport be nearer Dubai than AD???

Because the airport is actually off island. To go from the airport to say the corniche in downtown Abu Dhabi takes around 30 minutes.

So if you were going from JBR to Emirates Palace (on the corniche), I would allow at least 1.5 hours. If I was going from JBR to Abu Dhabi Airport, I would cut that back to 1 hour maximum.

its technically not nearer dxb than ad, ad corniche will be a 30 mins or so drive, whereby airport to ja etc will be 40 mins or so journey, because its the motorway and no traffic lights etc.

I live at the end of 30th on the Corniche and it takes me 25 mnins to get to the airport.

Sadly only if you drive yourself now as the taxi drivers have their speed limiters installed so chug along at exactly the speed limit... adds a good 10mins to the journey

Yup... our cab driver was showing us how it works the other day... when they go over the speed limit it tells them and they have a certain amount of time (seconds) to get back to the speed limit, otherwise they get fined. Very annoying when trying to hurry to the airport on an empty Friday morning road, pootling along the road.
