Default Qatar Petroleum or Aramco?

Been in the oil patch for 20 yrs and worked for various companies in many places including a stint in Saudi back in late 90's. Considering a return to the ME with one of the Operators. Aramco appear much more geared up HR-wise to "sell" the job but has anyone on here experience with both operators or opinions?

Pretty sure Aramco has come up before, so if you have a search, might find some info to get you going.

Anyway, welcome to BE

If it is direct hire with ARAMCO, rather than through a contractor, go for it.

Is there a problem sub contracting to ARAMCO scot47. I'm about to come out sub contracting to ARAMCO so should I be worried?

I used to work at KFUPM, next door to ARAMCO Main Compound. I knew both direct hirts with ARAMCO and the lesser beings working for contractors. Contractors do not treat their employees well.

Britexpat is an ex-squaddie with a chip on his shoulder about KSA, teachers and the world in general.

Please why does this site always turn into a slanging match??

I have met britexpat and I can assure you there was no sign of any chips.

Seriously this site helped me when I first thought about moving over to Qatar but now I can't believe anyone would want to come on here for advice.

Ok rant over....bad bad day.

QP is partnered with Maersk afaik, so it has a high number of capables compared to 20 years ago.

Was at an O&G ME conference a couple of months ago, and the Aramco guys said the housing sucked. The salaries between the two seem comparable, with QP having more annual leave.

Personally, as a woman I'd choose QP.

Scot47 is the typical case of those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.
Given Scot 47's inability to spell ( Heard of SpellCorrect?..No, didn't think so...) The reason he spent sop long in Saudi indicates why he could not get a job in a better berth!

Olejanx is right. Winners do not come to KSA, the UAE, Qatar or Kuwait ! I wonder what misfortune brought him to Arabia Felix ?
