Default Need an advice for ME

Hey guys,

My career went down a bit of unusual road for most expats.

I am originally from Sudan, Born in US which made me a US citizen "By luck"

I got my mechanical engineering BS from Sudan, worked in Sudan for 3 years as Pipeline engineer, moved to US, had a Masters in Mechanical engineering, then worked as a design engineer with caterpillar in US for 4 years, then came back to Sudan and worked again as Pipeline engineer for 6 years "two different majors", now I am a lead pipeline engineer with a total of 12 years experience 8 of them as pipeline engineer in Sudan, and 4 of them as a design engineer. "So two totally different type of experiences"
Whenever I am applying for a pipeline engineer job in the middle east, it seems that no one is interested. I am pretty confident that my experience is quite rich.
Is it because my experience doesn't get valued in the ME or is it because they don't want to consider my US nationality?, I am confused.
Many recruiters approached me but never got a serious second step when they get all these information.

Can some one please explain, or better yet let me know the right way to get a job that values my experience in the ME.?

Thanks a lot

How can you be originally from Sudan if you were born in the US? Do you mean you're of Sudanese descent? Your explanation isn't very clear so if your CV is written like this it's quite probable that prospective employers don't understand and it'll end up in the trash.

For starters 3 plus 4 plus 6 equals 13.

more helpfully a degree from Sudan may not be considered highly (whether than is accurate regarding the quality of the university I don't know)

Thanks a lot for the message, and Yes I am from Sudanese descent. My parents lived in the US for a while and this is how I was born there.

I stated it clear in my CV that I am a dual nationality.

I am suspecting that ME employers are looking for red blooded westerners, and experience probably comes in the second place, what you think?

Thanks again

BTW I've a masters' degree from a reputable US university if the Sudanese BS is not considered, So, I guess it's not the degree

Thanks

Don't declare the Sudanese passport on your CV. Just be US.

Sudanese born and bred pal of mine has been in Abu Dhabi for donkeys years and earns a good wedge with MNCs.

He does have a very good English accent and if you close your eyes you would never be able to tell he wasn't from Southern England

Not saying its your accent of course unless you are one of those whingey yanks who the agent thinks would annoy everyone ?

If I was hiring I wouldn't look at the masters first only the primary degree, masters are too easy to get regardless of the university in my opinion.

A BS is a bachelor of science is it? just curious if it is an actual engineering degree. Also if you have a professional membership of an worthwhile engineering association then mention this, as this gives some credibility to the degree

Especially if it's from the UK / West in general.

I struggle with American CVs, they generally work for the big yank firms and don't always fit too well in British / European companies.

Or, let me put it another way; I've never placed one.

Surprise.....
I got a job offer from a Company in QATAR...
It's fairly decent, yet something is not right..
Is it normal to get a job offer after filling online questionnaire?
I mean no phone interview took place through out the whole application process
I think I am gonna seek some help in a separate post as well..

Thank you guys

Be careful, there was a short-time poster who received a similar offer - but it originated in the British Indian Ocean Territory...i.e. Tristian Da Cuna, and turned out to be a load of old cobblers.
Check the e-mail address, as previously it was something like 'I.O.' instead of QA....
