Default Yellow receipt (NOA) from NYC District Office? How long should it take?

Hi everyone,

We filed an AOS package on April 3, 2003 and are waiting to get the
NOA / Yellow receipt from the NYC District Office.

Does anyone know how long that should take?

I have seen older postings mentioning 2-3 weeks. Can it be 60-90 days
now?

Thanks,

Ola

Normally NYC sends it within a month. However, some people report not getting one at all. Check your checking account and see when the checks were cashed. That might be your only proof until you get the letter to pick up your EAD and/or A/P if you applied for it.

Hi Rete,

Many thanks for your reply. They receieved the apps on April 3 and
cashed the money order on April 17. Given that it's been over a month
since they cashed it... maybe I wont see a receipt?

There is no way to do same day EAD processing with only the back of
the money order with just the case # on the back of the moneyorder?
(waiting to get a copy of it) or is the Yellow receipt always needed?

Any one else in NY in a similar situation?

All the best.

Of course you can use the cancelled Money Order and bring along your copy of the I-765 and the receipt from mailing and your passport. Remember you don't qualify until the 91st day from the date they cashed your money order, not your receipt for mailing.

And for NYC you have to get there between 12 and 1 a.m. in the morning in order to ensure that you are one of the first 50 people through the door who are there for an interim EAD.
