we are in the process of moving and will be out of the house in about 2 months (in between, we have a 2 week family reunion vacation) my wife's boss suggessted her to write to the senator and she did. I wonder if this would help with the situation. we filed in July, 2003. We are moving from san francisco district to san jose district and don't want to take longer to wait for the AOS interview. There's also a wedding reception for us in my hometown this July which my parents prepare for us.

Any idea if writing to the senator will help ?

I doubt it. Congressional representatives have no pull in upping an interview date, especially if there is no life threatening reason for it. If you are having a party in a foreign country in July, then apply for advance parole.

Hi:

You don't bother to mention what state you are moving to -- New Mexico, Florida, Illinois or is it Puerto Rico. You also don't mention whether it was one of California's two Senators [Boxer and Feinstein] or the senators in the other state.

In my experience, neither of California's senators will be of much assistance. You might have better luck with the senators from the NEW state of residence.

Perhaps I misread but I thought the OP said that they were moving from the "San Francisco district to the San Jose district".

I took it that they meant that their local office would change from SF to SJ ? Wouldn't this mean that they would still be within Northern CA?

Hi:

The San Francisco District includes San Jose -- there is a sub-office there.

Here in Los Angeles -- the Santa Ana and San Bernadino offices are NOT district offices, they are sub-offices of Los Angeles. Naturalization in Los Angeles are often processed in El Monte and Bellflower.

By definition, her leaving the San Francisco District meant that she was not moving to San Jose, California. If a client of mine moves from say, Long Beach a few miles to Huntington Beach while the AOS is pending, the file remains in the Los Angeles District in any case and will probably be interviewed at the District Office at 300 North Los Angeles Street even though the original home in Long Beach was closer to Santa Ana at time of filing.

Perhaps the OP doesn't realise that moving to SJ does not entail leaving the SF district.

Eitherway, perhaps they can clear this up.

OP - where are you moving to/from exactly?
