I've never heard of a wedding without witnesses...

But wouldn't the minister or justice of the peace or whoever is conducting this wedding be able to advise you (I assume you have checked he/she is authorised to officiate?)

You need to check the requirements for the state you are marrying in. Your officiant should know the answer, as Elvira said.

We married in Vermont and no witnesses were required.

We were married in Arizona, and 2 witnesses were required to sign the marriage certificate. Could be anyone of our own choosing, or we could pay to have 2 people from the courhouse come and stand in as witnesses.

As the others have said, you'll need to check your state requirements.

Best Wishes, and Congratulations,
Rene

The OP's previous posts indicate that they are getting married in Massachusetts.

This will tell the OP everything he needs to know:

Marriage Requirements in Massachusetts

FYI: Massachusetts does NOT require witnesses.
