Who need to file I-485 Supp. A
My mother is in the US on B2(visitor visa) and I would like to sponsor her for green card (sponsoring parent by US citizen). I read at INS site that I could do this by filing I130 and I485 (adjustment of status) combinedly along with fees and other documentation.
Is anyone aware of I485 supplement A (with a $1000 fee) that needs to be submitted because the applicant is already in the US? Some told me that you only need to file this form with this high fees only if the applicant was out of status at anytime. Is that true or does anyone who is already in the US on B2 visa should submit I-485 Supp-A along with I130 and I485?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot in advance!
Paul

The I-864 supplement A (not 485 sup A) does not apply to your mother. This is for
those applying under the 245i life act. You will only need to file the I-130 and the
I-864 affidavit of support with your mother's I-485 Adjustment of Status paperwork.
See this website - the I-130 Immigration Help Site

Re: Who need to file I-485 Supp. A
Shelley, yes, it is the "I-485 Supplement A." See
http://www.ins.usdoj.gov/graphics/fo.../i-485supa.htm.
The I-864 is the affidavit of support. The I-864A is the "Affidavit of Support
Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member."
True, the I-485 Supplement A does not apply to Paulmanoj's mother, as she never
violated status.
I-485 Supplement A is actually not for LIFE Act applicants; that particular form is
I-485 Supplement D, found at
http://www.ins.usdoj.gov/graphics/fo...rms/i-485d.htm.
