It has messed up my son's plans and his job and his health. The divorce and
refile thing is just total frustration with the deliberate lies given by
USCIS. Having never dealt with them before we expected reasonably accurate
information. As it is, their lies have put my son's health and life in
jeopardy. If they would have been given reasonably accurate information
they would have dealt with the situation much differently. Now they are
stuck due to the lies they were fed by USCIS. Now instead of him being able
to quite adequately pledge financial support for her we will have to supply
that due to his loss of his job due to USCIS lies.

I am off tomorrow and will be securing an experienced immigration lawyer for
them. The Nigerian consulate does not trust the Nigerians, considering them
liars. The consulate and USCIS are at least as bad.

"The Nigerian consulate does not trust the Nigerians, considering them

The OP needs to stop spewing all of this venom about USCIS. The actions of many of the Nigerian people have largely brought this type of situation upon themselves. Nigeria is synonymous for fraud.

It's not just the U.S. goverment that considers Nigeria to be overrun with rampant fraud. Transparency International did a study that found Nigeria to be one of the most corrupt countries on the planet.

http://www.afrol.com/articles/14602

Being a US citizen allows someone to petition the government for their spouse to join them. It doesn't guarantee immediete processing and approval, May'04 is not a long time to wait considering what kind of applications are being thrown a them.

It's honorable and commendable that your son is trying to navigate the system legally and properly. It's also a shame that he has to wait so long to be with his wife.

With that said, he should direct his anger towards the massive amount of fraudulent applications that constantly flood the US consulate in Lagos. There is a large number of his wife's Nigerian neighbors whose lies and deceit make it nearly impossible to pick out the real applicants from the criminals and scam artists.

How are they supposed to know that you're son's application is legitemate? It's unfortunate that this is delaying him, but there's a good reason that nothing is processed quickly in Lagos.
