I know if means Direct Consular Filing but for what?? How does this work. I have seen people speak of it but I would like to know what it means.??

Some US Embassies (not all) allow the USC to file directly with the Embassy in the home country of the spouse/fiance. This can speed up the process. Some Embassies allow it only if you the USC is resident in that country at the time. Other Embassies allow it even if the USC is not a resident (IE you marry in the foreign country and then file before the USC leaves). Some embassies don't allow it at all.

If it is something you can take advantage of time/money-wise, you will find it to be the quickest way for the alien to get their green card and the least amount of paperwork.
