What timeline is there for the I-130 petition?
Hi
I ask because my wife and I are intending on moving around December
03/January 04?
If I start the petition in the next week, will that be too early? How
long is the petition valid for?
Thankyou
Lee

Re: What timeline is there for the I-130 petition?
DCF typically takes about 3 months if there are no hiccups, you then have 6
months from reciept of your visa to enter the US. So estimate of 9 months
leeway
If you file now you anticipated move date would be right at the end of those
9 months. If it takes longer than 3 months then you won't have an issue, if
it takes less you might find your visa running out in november. Catch 22...
Personally I'd file now and be prepared to move within 6 months of receiving
your visa, those 6 months should give you the time you need to clear up
loose ends etc
good luck

Could you explain a little more what you are actually asking? Moving around?
From the time you file the I-130 petition it takes a minimum of 150 days (6 months) and realistically it takes about 8 months or more before the thing fully is done.
That's my best guess.

I believe he(?) means that they intend to move to the US around dec 03.

I think waxwabbit is filing directly at the consulate in London. In that
case he is likely to have his visa in 3-4 months (though it could take
longer but London seems consistent in this timeframe). The visa is vaid
for 6 months from date of issue
