what if
so bush is now thinking of giving illegals a prize for doing something
ilegal without getting caught.
What is stoping me from dumping my h1b, becoming ilegal and getting those
greencards bush wants to give out? shouldnt my efforts to stay legal for
over 7 years deserve a prize like that as well?

Hmm, that is very good point. May be after the regulations are published,
there will be a loophole for the law-abiding people to use.

The current plan, as I understand it, will not award greencards to
anyone. If I am incorrect I would like to see a cite for a story that
proves me wrong. All I have seen so far in these groups is hysteria and
no facts, everyone cursing Bush for his 'amnesty' (for a bill that is
not even close to passing into law!). Ridiculous.
Your H-1B could be a route to a greencard. Dumping it now would be
incredibly stupid

Re: what if
Bush already said it:
"Putting illegals on the path to permanent residency.."
What does that mean? Of course GREEN CARDS.

Re: what if
As they wrote on cnn.com
temorary working visa have a TEMPORARY character, and it will be not
any help of steping into route of pernament residency or greencard.
Specjalist's visas like h1b is straight road do greencard. It looks
like those visas are for 3 years only and afterwards they will kick
you out. Since they don't say anything about extending temporary
status i guess there will be no such a possibility.

Re: what if
and one more thing,
there is no and there was no logic in immigration policy of US. Now
the upcomming elections are most important and this is making a new
illogical rooles.
Illigal immigrants are reprised which is kind of illogical. But the
truth is it may make the things easyer for planty of people but it's
propably way to small change in broken USA immigration system.

Yes. In a report today I did hear that it could be possible to get a
greencard based on the temp work permit. That contradicts what I heard
yesterday. Perhaps I should stop listening to the radio

Ridiculous indeed. Not only it is not Amnesty and it is not law yet; it is not
even a bill. It is only a suggestion of policy.

There is no link , no path, no avenue between these temporary visas and green
cards, the way is presented by Bush right now.
By the time all this becomes law....who knows?

Re: what if
>these temporary visas
How can you give an illegal a "temporary" visa. Anyone see something wrong with that picture? Temporary means you do your work, then you leave. But they're illegal. They AIN'T going back.
Bush is stupid. I have come to that conclusion.
